Wayne Albert Warwas, age 79, went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2011 at Fairview Medical Center in Hibbing. Wayne was born on a farm at Pennington, Minnesota to Raymond and Frieda Warwas. He married Marie Emma Fay on April 2, 1950. They moved to the Iron Range in 1951 where Wayne worked for M.A. Hanna Mining Company for 31 years. He also owned and operated Warwas Logging. Wayne was a devoted husband, beloved father, and wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a good neighbor, cutting firewood or plowing neighbor's driveways. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, picking berries, and playing cards. Wayne recited poems and songs to his wife and family. He was a tease. Wayne was a man of strong faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Arlys; two brothers, Allen and Richard; and a grandson, Patrick. Surviving family includes his wife of 61 years, Marie; three daughters, Margaret (Don) Strom, Barbara (Lonnie) Karnes, and Karen (Phil) Johnson; three sons, Roger (Laurie) Warwas, Ronald (Renee) Warwas, and Donald (Lynn) Warwas; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Lyle (Nora) Warwas, Norman (Emilie) Warwas and Philip Warwas. Visitation is from 12:30 until the 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, May 14 in Nashwauk Lutheran Church. Burial is in Nashwauk Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Libbey Funeral Home.
