Wallace "Wally" Baker, age 87, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away Friday, June 23, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Wally was born in 1935, to George and Eunice Baker in Grand Rapids, MN. He graduated in 1955 from Grand Rapids High School, where he was class president for his senior year. After graduation, he attended University of Minnesota, Duluth graduating with a bachelor's degree, then obtaining a double MBA in education and business from Fort Collins, CO. Wally married Roberta on August 16, 1978, together they lived in Wausau, Wisconsin, then in Duluth on the shores of Lake Superior, before moving to Grand Rapids. Wally worked for Lake Superior College in Duluth, Minnesota and was a past president of The National and International Small Business Management Program.

After Wally retired, he enjoyed fishing, especially his many trips to the Isle Royale in Lake Superior, with the most memorable ones are being with his daughter's family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Lloyd; and siblings, Roy and Anita. Wally is survived by his wife of 45 years, Roberta; daughter, Laura (Mike); son, Keith; and 7 grandchildren; sister, Janice; many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Wally's family would like to thank the staff at Grand Itasca Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital and Dr. Timothy Kleinschmidt for the excellent care that he received.

Per Wally's request, no services will be held. There will be a family gathering at a later date.
