Vivian Lucille Bouchie, 85, of Bovey, went to be with her Lord on August 11, 2011. Visitation: 5:00 "€" 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 14 in the Libbey Funeral Home, and Monday, August 15 from 1:00 until the 2:00 Funeral Service at Grace Bible Chapel in Grand Rapids. Vivian was born in Cloquet, Minnesota, to Herbert Samuel and Gladys Irene Baldwin. Following graduation from Barnum High School in l944, Vivian attended Machine school in Minneapolis and worked as a machinist several months to assist with the war effort. In January, 1945, she moved back to her home at Atkinson and worked washing ore cars in Proctor, Minn. Vivian met Richard Bouchie in 1944. They were married in Duluth on March 3, 1945. Through the early years of marriage they lived in and around Grand Rapids, Minn. and then established a home in Trout Lake in 1948 where Vivian resided 61 years until taking residence at Home and Comfort living facility in Coleraine. Vivian was an active community member throughout her life. Her employment activities included school census for Coleraine, Grand Rapids Wild Rice Plant and Itasca Creamery. She played saxophone in the Grand Rapids City Band, at senior home facilities and with the Buckaroo's when visiting Bibleville, Texas several winters. She was organist at Grace Bible Chapel (30 years), taught elementary Sunday School and pitched softball with the women's league until age 69. Vivian was an accomplished cake decorator and baker for over 40 years, participated in Bible studies and enjoyed playing cards with neighbor ladies. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; three sons, Gary, Steven, and Loren; her parents; two sisters, Dorothy and Bernice; and a brother, Burnell. Survivors include five children: Richard (Judy) Bouchie, Casselton, North Dakota; Ronald (Linda) Bemidji, Minn.; Leonard (Nancy), Marble, Minn.; Judy Stewart, Chugiak, Alaska; Gwendy (Durwin) Burtz, Massillon, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Terri Bouchie, Marble; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Sumner, New Mexico; sister-in-law, Bernice Baldwin, Litchfield, MN; brother-in-law, Bob Zimmerman, Cloquet; and many nieces and nephews. The children of Vivian Bouchie are grateful for the support of church friends and extended family, Ron and Pam Staskivige, Marge Niemi, Bruce and Margo Hanson, neighbors and caregivers at Home & Comfort and the hospice workers. Special thanks to Carolyn Adamson who visited mom each week she was in assisted care living.
