Vera Alta Samuelson, age 92, of Grand Rapids, Minn. completed her life's journey on November 11, 2012 at Kylar Glen in Grand Rapids. Vera was born in 1920 to Stephen and Amanda Stephenson in Esplee Township, Minn. After moving to Bovey, Minn. as a child, she attended local schools, graduating from Greenway High School and attending Itasca Community College. She married Clarence Louis Samuelson on December 3, 1942. Through the years she was employed by Viking Oil Company, Mornes Implement Company, Baker Insurance Agency, the Office of Economic Opportunity, and Swanson Chevrolet. She was known for her generous hospitality, her wonderful cooking skills and Swedish recipes, her continuing interest in youth, her dedicated service to her church library, and her strong and unwavering Christian faith. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her various pets (especially her cat, Pixie), flowers, gardening, and books. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, parents, and brother, Adrian. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Brennan (Perry Hendricks) of Minneapolis and Faith Wopata of Grand Rapids; three grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Cornelius, Joshua (Anne Marie) Wopata, and Scott (Allyson) Wopata; and five great-grandchildren, Carissa, Luke, Gabriella, Lily, and Clara.
