Timothy John
Goodell
May 10, 1958 — Jan 17, 2019
Timothy John "Goodie" Goodell, age 60, died suddenly, tragically, and unexpectedly at St. Cloud Hospital on January 17th. The "world"s greatest handyman" couldn"t fix this one.
Goodie was born on May 10, 1958 to George and Sharon (Sherrie) Goodell in Lubbock, Texas. As the son of an Air Force pilot, Goodie and his family moved around for a time, before settling back home at the family farm. He attended and graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1976. With the skills taught to him during countless hours of working with his Dad on the farm, Goodie pursued a career as a Master Mechanic and Operating Engineer, and was a proud member of IUOE Local Union 49B, retiring last year. There was nothing with wheels and a motor he could not operate or repair, including airplanes, earning his pilots" wings in 2003. Goodie married the love of his life, Joan (Joie) Lindberg on March 19, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In their nearly 20 years together, they embarked on a series of adventures that took them all over this great country of ours, then settled back home, in the shadow of the farm he grew up on. He loved his life, his wife, and his many friends. His quick wit and zest for fun touched the lives of all who knew him.
Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon (Sherie) Smith, step-father, Gerald (Smitty) Smith of St. Paul; step-mother, Bonnie (Graves) Goodell of Cohasset; sister, Dawn M. Goodell; grandparents, Philmon (Phil) and Ada Goodell of Cohasset, John and Natalie Popovich of Billings, Montana; Aunt, Carol (Cookie) Bolin of Billings, Montana; Uncle, William (Bill) Goodell of Cohasset; In-Laws, Norton and Mary Lindberg of Grand Rapids; sister-in-law, Deborah Conwell of Grand Rapids; brothers-in-law, Steven and Ronald Lindberg of Grand Rapids.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (Joie) of Deer River; his father, George of Cohasset; sister, Kellison (Kelli) (Thomas) Haugen of Oak Grove, MN; brother, Marc (Ro) Goodell of Maple Grove, MN; step-brothers, Brad (Suzy) Graves of CA, Brian (Nichole) Graves of Coon Rapids, MN; brothers-in-law, Mark (Jeff) Lindberg of San Francisco, CA and Curt Lindberg of St. Paul; nieces and nephews, Lizzie and Katie (Goodell), Jenna, Carley and Courtney Graves, Helen Lindberg, Michael, John and T.J. Haugen, Soren, Henry and Coleman Lindberg. Aunt Pat (Jack) Ross of Absarokee, MT; uncle, Bob Bolin of Billings, MT along with many cousins across the country. Also, special pets, Taz, Little Bit and Roary, as well as a lifetime of friends who are rich with memories of him and his brothers in the MMMC.
A Memorial Gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, February 9th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Toivo"s (formery Eldies 4th Street Station) in Grand Rapids, MN to remember Goodie. See online family guestbook at www.andrews-libbeyfh.com
