Roger O. Pierce, 87, of Wabana Township, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 23, 1928 in Baraboo, WI to Walter and Winifred (Watkins) Pierce. He graduated from Baraboo High School where he was a proud member of the boxing team. Roger moved to Alaska in 1949 where he worked on the railroad and had come to know the Lord. Roger married Nola Hinz in 1950 in North Freedom, WI. He moved to Oswego, IL in 1949 and worked for Meade Electric and Utility Dynamics as a Journeyman Lineman retiring in 1989. Roger worked and raised his family for 30 years in Northern Illinois. Roger and Nola moved to and retired at Lake Wabana, MN in 1989. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed traveling especially to Alaska and Texas. He ushered at various churches for over 60 years and at Grace Bible Chapel where he was a member. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth, Donald, Walter and Henry Pierce; sisters, Margaret Palmer, Dorothy Douglas-Parent, and Elsie Bezanson. Roger is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nola Pierce of Wabana Township, MN; children, Henry (Sue) Pierce of Bloomington, MN, Richard (Marcilene) Pierce of Lemont, IL, Darla Lindberg of Dewey, AZ, Donna Pierce of Lindstrom, MN, Paul Pierce of Grand Rapids, MN; 9 grandchildren, Benjamin, Jeremy, Megan, Geoffrey, Emily, Scott, Sheri, Sheila and James; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation: 1:00 p.m. until the 2:30 p.m. Funeral Service Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Grace Bible Chapel, 2452 County Rd 76, Grand Rapids. Pastor Charlie Nelson officiating.
