Richard "Rich" P. Tinquist, age 80, of Cohasset, MN passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Grand Itasca Hospital, Grand Rapids, MN.
Rich was born in 1943 in Grand Rapids, MN to Clifford and Evelyn Tinquist. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1961 and went to the state high school tournament for wrestling. Following high school, he attended barber school and was the youngest licensed barber in the State of Minnesota at that time. On December 28, 1962, he was united in marriage to Susan Anderson in Grand Rapids, MN. Rich served 2 years in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge from the service, he obtained his commercial pilot's license. Rich and Susan owned and operated the Country Kitchen Restaurant in Grand Rapids, MN for several years. Also, Rich owned and operated Northwoods Taxidermy. Following retirement, Rich and Susan traveled in their motorhome and lived in Florida for 18 years. They returned to Grand Rapids, MN and built a home on Big Jay Gould in God's Country.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Charity Fischer.
Rich is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Tim (Karen) Tinquist of Cohasset, MN, Sheree (Travis McCoy) Tinquist of Grand Rapids, MN, Scott (Kimberly) Tinquist of Cohasset, MN; one brother, Maynard (Marilyn) Tinquist of Cohasset, MN; one brother-in-law, Carl Fischer of Embarrass, MN; 9 grandchildren, Gary, Emily, Remi, Austin, Samantha, Courtney, Makayla, Morgan, and Aidan; 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM at Grace Bible Chapel, Grand Rapids, MN followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM at the church. Pastor Ken Polley will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be at Wildwood Cemetery, Cohasset, MN.
