Obituary

Richard "Joe" Brown, age 78, of Cohasset, MN, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at his home.

Joe was born in 1946 to James and Hazel Brown in Grand Rapids, MN and grew up in the Cohasset area. He met the love of his life; Hope, and they were married in 1968. He began his career as a lineman, and eventually became a logger and starting his own business, Joe Brown Trucking, and retiring just a few months ago.

Joe was a dedicated and hardworking man. It was often said that he never sat down, yet he was the most honest, kindest, and generous man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and firearms. He had a deep love for his family, the Lord, and his country. Joe was a member of the Itasca Bible Church and Buffalo Arms Club.  He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carrie; siblings, Betty Mertes, James "Spike" Brown, William "Billy" Brown, Mary "Missy" Brown, and Kelly Brown. He is survived by is wife of 56 years, Hope "Joe Brown's wife"; son, Shawn (Laurie) Dodge-Brown, grandchildren, Rachel Jones, Jason Jones, Heather Dodge; 7 great grandchildren; and sister, Kathy Rasmussen.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Itasca Bible Church, Grand Rapids, beginning at 10:00 AM, and lasting until the 11:00 AM memorial service. Burial will be at Wildwood Cemetery, Cohasset, MN. Rev. Shawn Laughlin will officiate.
