Raymond G. Goodwin, 68, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, passed away June 17, 2010. Ray was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Houston, Texas when he was four. He was in the ROTC in high school, joined the Navy the day after graduation, and served aboard ship in the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Ray married Trudi Goodwin in 1963. He worked as a salesman for building materials companies. In 1996 he moved to Grand Rapids and in 1998 Ray remarried Trudi. He suffered many years with kidney failure and COPD. Ray enjoyed the Food Network and would often work on special dishes "€" a real gourmet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann Gram and Ronald Goodwin, and a sister, Pat O'Sullivan. Survivors include his wife Trudi; stepsons Jacob Van Helder of Grand Rapids and Andrew (Christina) Van Helder of Ft. Hood, Texas; a sister, Linnea (Arlan) Fouts of Cleveland, Texas; and a stepbrother, Jeff Gram of Chicago. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. with the memorial service at 11 a.m. on Monday June 28 in the Libbey Funeral Home.
