Phyllis Theresa (Carolan) Scherf, 73, of Grand Rapids, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in her home surrounded by family. She was born October 26, 1942 in Decorah, IA to Peter and Margaret (Baumler) Carolan. She married Karyl Scherf on May 1, 1965. She was the Executive Director for the Itasca County Board of Realtors. Phyllis was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karyl Scherf in 2005 and her parents. Phyllis is survived by her children, Kelly Zotto of Florence, CO, Shelly (Kevin) Geerdes of Bemidji, MN, Susan (Brad) Enns of Columbiana, AL, Jon (Jane) Scherf of Britt, MN; sister, Sandra (Nicky) Carolan of Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren, Justina Lewis, Michael Zotto, Matthew Zotto, Mitchell Zotto, Tyler Geerdes, Tony Geerdes, Jackson Enns, Katie Scherf, Ryan Scherf; and one great-grandson, Gavin Lewis; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 9th, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 315 SW 21st St., Grand Rapids, MN 55744. Visitation one hour prior to the Mass. Rev. Fr. Jerry Weiss officiating.
