Ned Jerome Witte, of Calumet, Minnesota formerly of Princeton, MN and Milaca, MN, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ned was born in Isabel, South Dakota and graduated from McIntosh (SD) High School in 1961. As a teen he worked for local sheep ranchers, in the bowling alley and newspaper office, and for about a year for the U.S. Postal Service. He attended Hanson Auto School in Fargo, ND for diesel and auto mechanics in 1961 and 1962. Ned was married to Carol Hoffman on May 19, 1967. He worked as an auto and diesel mechanic until 1993 when he went to work at Federal Cartridge in Anoka, MN. He took early retirement for his health in 2004 and moved to Calumet. Ned loved fishing, gardening, scroll-sawing, spending time with his grandkids, and reading his Bible. He went to be with the Lord while doing something he enjoyed, tending the yard on a bright sunny day. Ned was preceded in death by his mother, Katie, stepfather, Fred, and infant nephew, Charles. Surviving family includes his wife, Carol; five children, Jerome (Melanie) Witte, Oil City, PA, Ned Robert (Zenia) Witte, Beaufort, SC, Rosann (Ron) Wolbert, Milaca, MN, Eric Witte, Calumet, and Michael Witte, Milaca; grandchildren, Angela, Yolonda, Cyrus, Darius, Savanah, Michaela, Tameka, Tristan, Cierra, Elijah, Hana, Sid, and Sam; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Dierdre) Witte, Bay Point, CA, Fred Witte, Princeton, MN, Art (Mary) Witte, Princeton; sisters, Pearl (Milton) Storm, Meadow, SD, Patricia Smith, Wichita, KS, Carol (Larry) Boros, Princeton, Linda (Jeff) Minks, Milaca, Carrie Witte, Princeton, and Gayla (J.R.) Wasson, Penora, IA: and many nieces, nephews and cousins, including the three "special" cousins. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Monday, September 20 in the Full Gospel Church in Grand Rapids. Burial: Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids.
