Obituary

Mark Bernard Belchak, 44, of Swatara, Minn., formerly of St. Michael, Minn., died unexpectedly in Swatara on Saturday, October 1, 2011. Visitation: 12 until the 1pm funeral service on Thursday October 6, 2011 in the Grace Bible Chapel, Grand Rapids. Mark was born in 1967 and raised in St. Michael, MN. He attended St. Michael Catholic School and graduated from STMA High School in 1985. Mark enrolled at North Dakota State University and graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1990. Mark had an entrepreneurial spirit and dabbled in a variety of creative endeavors including engineering, technical recruiting, construction and a host of other creative design projects. A highlight for Mark was working with his father building his own home in Swatara, Minnesota. Mark thrived on the peace of nature's beauty where he enjoyed the hobbies of the north woods, including fishing, hiking, and cross-country skiing. Mark had selfless spirit and was willing to help at any time, most notably with his parents. Mark had a special sense of humor and personality that lit up many rooms. He simply was a joy to be around and will be greatly missed. The memories made with him will be cherished and retained in all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lambert & Irene and Michael & Phidelous. Surviving family includes his parents, Kenneth and Barbara Belchak of Swatara; two brothers, Tim (Mona) Belchak of Albuquerque, New Mexico and David (Amy) Belchak of Rogers, Minn.; a niece, Sarah; and nephews, Jacob, Caleb, Uzziah, Jadon and Matthias. Visitation: 12 until the 1pm funeral service on Thursday October 6, 2011 in the Grace Bible Chapel, Grand Rapids. Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Shovel Lake, Minn.
