Obituary

Lois L. Kendrick, age 83, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, formerly of Hill City, Minnesota, died May 6, 2013 at Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids. Lois was born August 10, 1929 to Clarence and Orva Jellison. She grew up and attended school in the Cohasset, Minn. area. She worked in Duluth and Minneapolis until she was united in marriage to Herschel Kendrick on March 6, 1971. They moved to different areas while Herschel served in the Army, and eventually made their home in the Hill City area. Lois enjoyed her garden and flowers and also loved to fish. She was a member of the Hill City United Methodist Church. Lois was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary of Ponti Peterson VFW Post #1720 in Grand Rapids and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of James Kobernat American Legion Post #340 in Hill City. Lois was known as "The Poppy Lady" for her perseverance distributing poppies. Lois always had her camera with her and will be remembered for taking pictures at numerous occasions. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel in 2010 and her parents. Lois is survived by her twin brother, Gene Jellison of Cohasset, brother, Ralph Jellison of Washington, and sister, Evelyn Hanson of Grand Rapids; friend and guardian, Dorothy Biskey of Haypoint, Minn.; sisters-in-laws in Alabama; cousins; and numerous friends. Lois will be buried at the Wildwood Cemetery in Cohasset. As per her request, there will be no services for her burial. Libbey Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, Minnesota. 218-326-4000.
