Leona Marie Peterson, age 85, of Bovey, MN, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2025.

Leona as born in 1940 to George and Ellen Veit in Rice Lake, WI. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, warm hospitality, and the joy she took in caring for others. Leona had a deep love for gardening and canning, passions through which she nurtured both her family and community. Her home was always open, and company was always welcome. Above all, Leona lived with a steadfast and vibrant faith in Jesus Christ, which guided and strengthened her throughout her life.

Leona was preceded in death by her beloved son, John E. Peterson; parents, John and Ellen Marie Berger; and brothers, Michael Berger, Eugene Veit, and Douglas Veit. Leona is survived by her son, Randy (Gwen)Peterson; two grandchildren, Leah (Andre) and Daniel (Brad); two great grandchildren, Aliyah and Andre; sister-in-law, Barb Veit; John's partner, Betsy Kesner; and cherished nieces and nephew.

A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2026.
