Leona B. Chapman, 97, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota passed away at Kylar Glen Hospice House in Grand Rapids on March 29, 2013. Leona was born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Hayfield (MN) High School in 1933 and from nursing school in 1937. She married Harry Chapman on July 16, 1938. Leona worked as an RN in Faribault, Northfield and Glencoe and then for 24 years at United Hospital in St. Paul, retiring in 1977. Leona and Harry moved to Grand Rapids in 1986 where they loved the hunting, shooting, boating, fishing and golfing "€" the outdoors. Leona loved fishing and hunting in Canada, Wyoming and Minnesota, and loved golfing. Her favorite hobbies were needlecraft, painting, and black powder shooting. Leona was a member of Grand Rapids United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 2007; parents, Fred and Eline Olsen; and a sister, Evelyn Wright. Leona is survived by nieces and nephews, including Cleone (Jim) Norman of Rochester, Minnesota, brother-in-law, Ozzie (Joanie) Chapman, Glencoe, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Yvonne (Curtis) Christie, Hastings, Minnesota; great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of friends.
