Lee "Bubba" Smith passed away at "The Shack" in Wirt, Minn., on Sept. 1, 2012. Lee was born on July 19, 1947 to Donald and Faye Smith in Grand Rapids, Minn. Lee grew up in Grand Rapids and graduated from Grand Rapids High School. He served in the US Army in Vietnam. In 1981 he met Pam McKim at RC's. Nothing has been the same since and our family began to form. 31 years, 1 month and 20 days. Oh, what a ride! Still deeply in love!!! Lee was a lifelong over-the-road truck driver for L & M Supply. He retired in 1994. He was also a longtime local business owner of System One Video, Beno's Pizza and the Rainbow Bottle Shoppe. Lee was a member of the VFW, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge and recent member of the DAV. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Don, sister Kathy, brother-in-law, George McKim, two cherished nephews and his little girls, Harley, Maddy and Sissy. He is survived by his wife, Pam; his daughter Lisa and her husband Steve Schaar; two grandbabies Brittney (Bill Saw) Schaar, Danielle Schaar; great-grandbaby Brielle Saw; brothers, Dean (Lynn) Smith, Mark (Laurie) Smith and Jim Quiel; sisters, Lilas Douglass, LuAnn (Jim) Grover and Beth Palki; many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; best buddy and companion, Mr. Tobie Smith and his lil girl Sassy Frass. He will be greatly missed by many friends and employees, past and present. Military honors will be held on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Grand Rapids Moose Lodge.
