Obituary

Klaus Adler, 84, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away Friday, April 24, 2020 at Majestic Pines Assisted Living.

Klaus was born in 1935 to Michael and Helena Adler in Germany. He immigrated with his family to New York City in 1949 where he met the love of his life, Gertrude Rugel. On, July 4, 1953 Klaus was united in marriage to Gertrude, and started their family and created many lifelong friendships. The couple moved to Grand Rapids, Minn., in 1968. Klaus worked at Blandin paper company for 26 years until he retired in 1995. Over the years the couple opened their hearts and home to many children as foster parents. He was a father/grandfather figure to countless people. As well as a long time member of Assemblies of God Church, his Christian faith was an inspiration and touched many lives.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 year, Gertrude; his infant daughter Elisabeth, and his parents.

Klaus is survived by his children, Anna (Bob) Johnson or Grand Rapids, Susan Flower of St. Paul, MN, and Tim (Annette) Adler of Grand Rapids; son-in-law, Gerald Flower of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Peter Flower, Emily Flower, Meagan (Kevin) Asberry, Matt Johnson, Mike (Elasah) Adler, Josh (Nikita) Adler and Corrin (Eric) Mann; great-grandchildren, Micheala, Davina, Jacob, Kaylynn, Mason, Petey, Leo, Shavon, Lukas, Calvin, Andre, Lucy, Asher, Lincoln, Daulton, Hudson, Adeline; his sister, Giesala (Morris) Watson; his God-daughter, Dana Alvarado, God-son, Tony Rugel; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the future.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Itasca County Hospice.
