Dr. Keith Harlan Stolen, age 95, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away peacefully at home on February 4, 2025, surrounded by family.

Keith was born on February 10, 1929, in Lakota, ND to Alvin T. and Arda J. Stolen. He grew up in Fergus Falls, Eau Claire, WI and attended Denfeld High School in Duluth where he lettered in football, basketball and track. After graduating in 1947, he attended the University of Minnesota where he played football for the Golden Gophers as a center and linebacker. Some of his teammates included Bud Grant, Leo Nomellini, Cal Stoll and Clayton Tonnemaker.

While at the University, he met Carolyn Johnson and they were married in 1952. He then attended the University's medical school. Keith completed his medical training in Honolulu, HI, San Francisco, CA and Indianapolis, IN while serving as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Keith and Carolyn moved to the Grand Rapids area where he joined a medical practice, retiring from the Itasca Clinic in 1992. They raised their four daughters on Lake Pokegama.

Keith was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Rotary Club and served on the board of Itasca Youth for Christ. He enjoyed hunting, skiing, golf, traveling, gardening and Gopher football and hockey.

Keith was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn, his parents, and his siblings (Al Stolen, Joyce Swanson and Tom Stolen).

He is survived by his daughters: Sally (Mike) Grossman; Susan (Steve) Finden; Sunny (Curt) Johnson; and Lynn (Dave) Wilde; nine grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

We would especially like to thank Suzie, Beth and Juli for their compassionate care, which allowed our dad to remain in his own home.

A memorial service will be held Saturday June 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, MN.
