Obituary

Kathleen "Kathy" Ann Bartick passed away peacefully in St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, MN on Tuesday June 27, 2023 at the age of 85.

Kathy was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1937, in Grand Rapids, MN to Mike and Catherine Jackson. She grew up on her parent's farm in Blackberry, MN along with her siblings, doing her share of the work. Kathy graduated June of 1955 from Grand Rapids High School. She married Clifford Jackson in November of 1955 and together they had four children: Greg, Terri, Jeff, and Cindy. Kathy worked at Ben Franklin for 15 years, a job she greatly enjoyed.

Kathy married Fred Bartick on March 9, 1970. Together they had a daughter, Jodi, and made their home in Deer River, MN.

Kathy and Fred owned and operated Fred's Bait and Moose Lake Wild Rice. They worked side-by-side seining minnows and buying wild rice. They enjoyed many trips to Canada fishing and traveled around to other states and Mexico. They were happily married until Fred's death on February 8, 2011. One year later, Kathy got a new love, a puppy dog named Buddy who was a loving and loyal companion until her death.

Kathy was a Life Member of the American Legion Auxiliary 1720. She enjoyed bowling and was on a league. She happily spent the summer months working in her flower garden, mowing grass, and decorating her yard. Kathy also loved decorating for all the holidays and seasons, especially Christmas, and cooking for her family. She was the best cook. She had many more talents and did many good deeds, more than can be mentioned. Kathy will be so missed by her loved ones.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Bartick; parents, Mike and Catherine Jackson; sister, Virginia Jackson; and brother, Rodney Jackson. Kathy is survived by her children: Greg Jackson, Terri (Charlie) Worrath, Jeff (Delores) Jackson, Cindy (Jim) Jackson, Jodi (Greg) Payne; grandchildren: Brandi, Jesse, Jeremy, Cassandra, Mariah, and Jadyn; great grandchildren: Ty, Skylar, Michael, Tatum, Tennille, Joyce, Alice, Iria, and Isabelle; sisters: Doris Manella and Laura Hughes; step-children: Sandra, David, Dan, Laurie, and Sam, whom she helped raise and was like her own son; and many nieces and nephews.

At Kathy's request, there will be no funeral.

2 Corinthians 5:6-9—Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: for we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
