Julene L. (Foix) Landey, 87, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at Brookstone Manor surrounded by family. She was born October 5, 1930 in Spang Township, MN to Arthur and Mabel Foix. She grew up in Spang Township. Julene started her education in the one room school house in Spang and finished it in Grand Rapids where she graduated. Julene married Archie Landey on June 30, 1949. She loved being a homemaker and raising their 5 children. Julene was active in the Spang Sunshine Club, Spang Community Club, Spang 4-H, plus many activities through the churches they attended. She was a cook at Quadna for many years. Julene loved gardening, baking, picking wild berries and sewing. She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her short time at Brookstone Manor, she enjoyed Thursday Bingo and all the different activities they provided, along with the places she got to go to. She especially enjoyed the friendship she found with Alice. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Archie; brother, Henry; sister, Winona Bauer; son, John; great-grandsons, Carter and William Niemann. Julene is survived by her children, Allen (Pauline) of AL, Nela Hanson of VA; Lola (Lee) Tommila of Hill City, MN, Lois (John) Figula of NJ; daughter-in-law, Rose of TN; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 3 gr-great-grandchildren; a special friend of the family, Firmus Opitz; special friend, Alice Koski; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20th, 2018 with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Andrews-Libbey Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Pastor Lisa Jordan officiating.
