John "Sonny" Edward Dahlgren, 88, of Deer River, MN passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 in his home. He was born September 7, 1928 in Grand Rapids, MN to John and Mary (Anderson) Dahlgren. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School and is a Korean Conflict U.S. Army Veteran. He married Joyce Murray on November 22, 1958 in Grand Rapids, MN. He worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a supervisor until his retirement in 1979. He then worked for Gulbranson Excavating and then retired with Arrowhead Communications after 12 years. John was a life member of the V.F.W. and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Dahlgren; parents; brothers, Elmer, Wally and Donald Dahlgren; sisters, Evelyn Mackie, Shirley Albertson, and Agnes Bouvette. John is survived by his children, Michael (Nancy) Dahlgren of Deer River, MN, William Dahlgren of Alborn, MN, Nancy Dahlgren of Deer River, MN; brother, Ralph "Pat" (Toi) Dahlgren of WA; sister-in-law's, Edith Dahlgren and Joan McLaughin, 3 grandchildren, Megan (Robb) Ritter, Michael (Paula) Miller, Erin (Jake) Lindgren; 6 great-grandchildren, Michael, Claire, Finnley, Sawyer, Piper, Brayden; and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday with a visitation 1 hour prior to the Service at Andrews-Libbey Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
