John Michael Attey, 77, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Grand Itasca Hospital & Clinic. He was born March 31, 1942 in East St. Louis, IL to Hutton and Katherine (Klippert) Attey. He graduated high school and was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and was very patriotic. John served from 1961-1965 as a proud sailor on the U.S.S. Topeka. He loved his job of 35 years working for Simplex/Tyco. He drove over two million miles and went through many company cars without any accidents. He married Sandra White on January 30, 2010. John was a member of the Bible Community Chapel, Cohasset, MN. He was the past commander of the American Legion in Milan, MO and a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Milan, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jean Attey.
John is survived by his wife, Sandra (White) Attey of Grand Rapids, MN; children, Michele (Chad) Mathis of Godfrey, IL, Pamela (Matt Roenfanz) Attey of Clear Lake IA, John Attey of Owensboro, KY, Michael (Lisa) Warhover of St. Louis, MO; 9 grandchildren, Monica, Tony, Katlyn, Alex, Luke, Kaylee, Connor, Keller, Stella; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Jean White; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Community Bible Chapel, 125 5th St NW, Cohasset, MN with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
