Jerry Don Wydra, 73, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, formerly of Anchorage, Alaska, died unexpectedly on September 29, 2010 at First River, Bowstring Township, Minn. Jerry was born May 21, 1937 in Tacoma, Washington. He proudly served in the Marine Corps in California. He spent most of his adult life in Alaska as a commercial fisherman and businessman. His life-long hobby led him to open a gun shop, AA Guns, when he returned to Minnesota. Jerry enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, gardening, gun auctions and his "Yorkie pups." He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Stefonowicz, and Stephanie and Ray Wydra; grandson, Jamison Middleton; stepbrother, Ray Wydra, Jr.: uncle, Bud Stefonowicz; and brother-in-law, Mike Lammon. Surviving family includes his wife, Ione; children, Cathy(Jim) Brooks, Jagade Wydra, Jerreleigh (Mike)Wydra, and Cerise (Eric) Wydra; stepchildren, Ione Suzanne (Tim) Gobbi and Mark Wingate; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Margie (Jim) Kelley; brother, Don (Paula) Wydra; half sister, Nancy Stefonowicz; and stepbrothers, Gary (Saundra) Wydra, and Bob Wydra, and nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Krista Lammon. Memorials are preferred to the NRA. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. with a Memorial Service starting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 5 in the Libbey Funeral Home with military honors by Grand Rapids Area Veterans.
