Jerome "Jerry" H. Andrews, 67, of Duluth, MN, formerly of Grand Rapids, MN passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 in his home, surrounded by his family after a short, tough battle with cancer. He was born June 26, 1950 in Worthington, MN to Gerard "Doc" and Joan "Jo" (Raines) Andrews. He graduated from Slayton, High School and joined the U.S. Army 101st Airborne and served in the Vietnam War. After returning from the war, he attended Southwest State University and graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a B.S. degree in Mortuary Science. Jerry moved to Duluth in 1977 with his first wife, Joan Platt where they raised their children. He married Mary McCauley on May 1, 2004 in Duluth, MN. He worked for 30 years at Dougherty Funeral Home until his retirement in 2007 and they moved to Grand Rapids, MN. After a few short years of retirement, Jerry missed working and purchased Andrews-Libbey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in 2013. He enjoyed serving the community of Grand Rapids and working was his true passion. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Andrews in 2017. Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary (McCauley) Andrews of Duluth, MN; children, Brett (Missy) Andrews of Grand Rapids, MN, Erik (Maggie Autry) Andrews of Houston, TX, Sarah Andrews of Duluth, MN, Emily (Mike Ward) Andrews of Duluth, MN, Chanel Proell of San Diego, CA; brothers, Tim (Judy) Andrews of Seattle, WA, Paul (LouAnn) Andrews of Pipestone, MN, Tony Andrews of Duluth, MN; sisters, Margaret Andrews of Minneapolis, MN, Jane (Chuck) Dooley of St. Cloud, MN; two grandchildren, Alexis Andrews of Omaha, NE and Aidan Andrews of Grand Rapids, MN; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
