Jeanne L. Newstrom, 86, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota passed away on Saturday January 22, 2011. Jeanne was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Howard and Mabel Griffin. She graduated from high school in 1942 and Minnesota Business College in 1943. Jeanne married Donald Newstrom on March 23, 1946. She worked as activities director at Leisure Hills (Evergreen Terrace) for 27 years. Jeanne was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, a Sunday School teacher, circle member, an active volunteer, and Cub Scout leader. She worked side by side with Donald on their Christmas tree farms, and loved spending time with her family. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, and three sisters. Surviving family includes four children, Laura (Tom) Fruth of New Brighton, Minnesota, Mary Lee (Wayne) Raley of Grand Rapids, Reed (Sheila) Newstrom of West Union, Iowa, and Jon Newstrom of Kenya, Africa; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Deloris) Griffin of Luck, Wisconsin and George Griffin of Amery, Wisconsin; and a sisters, Carol (Wally) Lundeen of Chehalis, Washington.
