James Woodrow Allen, 81, passed away Monday. July 10, 2017 in his home. He was born June 16. 1936 in Grand Rapids, MN to George and Lila (Goodwin) Allen. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1954. James married Kathleen Riendeau in Grand Rapids, MN on April 18, 1958. He loved the outdoors and all it had to offer. James had a one of a kind life journey, always involving nature.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, George J. Allen Jr. and Luverne Matzdorf.

James is survived by his wife, Kathleen Allen; son, James J. (Sue) Allen of Grand Rapids, MN; his daughters, Gloria (Timothy) Hughes of Grand Rapids, MN and Jackie (Jason) Carpenter of Goodland, MN; brother, Art Allen of Grand Rapids, MN; sisters, Delores (Carl) Hanson of Grand Rapids, MN and Betty Allen of Snohmish, WA. He had 7 grandchildren and 11 gr-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held.
