Jack Wayne Makinen, 77, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Grand Rapids, MN. He was born November 24, 1937 in Grand Rapids, MN to Wayne and Vivian (Jesse) Makinen. Jack graduated from Grand Rapids High School and attended Itasca Community College. He worked for the State of MN Dept. of Transportation until his retirement. Jack was a charter member of Balsam Fire Department and Grace Bible Chapel. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley (Martin) Makinen; parents; son, James Makinen; and daughter, Debbie Phelps. Jack is survived by his wife, Chris (Schermerhorn) Makinen of Grand Rapids, MN; daughters, Sandy (Bret) Wagner, Jackie (Todd) Figgins both of Grand Rapids, MN; sister, Phyllis Gordon of Colville, WA; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Memorial Service: 4:30 p.m. Sunday February 8th, 2015 with a gathering of friends one hour prior to the service all at Grace Bible Chapel, 2452 County Road 76, Grand Rapids, MN.
