Herschel Kendrick, 76 of Hill City, died February 12, 2010 at Miller Dwan Medical Center in Duluth, MN. Herschel was born in Jefferson County, Alabama. He joined the National Guard, served in the Army and was deployed for a time in Germany. He married Lois Jellison in Minneapolis on March 6, 1971. He retired from the Army after 24 years of service in 1978. Herschel was an active life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Surviving family includes his wife, Lois, a sister, Rosa Lee Sargent of Birmingham, AL, and four brothers, Millard of Saraland, AL, Willard of Bessemer, AL, James of Saraland, and Leon of Cummings, GA. Visitation will begin at 12:00 and a Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday April 3 in the Libbey Funeral Home, Grand Rapids.
