Obituary

Hazel Mostoller Rostvit, 93, of Grand Rapids, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 6, 2010. Hazel Mostoller Rostvit, 93, of Grand Rapids, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 6, 2010. Hazel was born in Warba, attended school in Warba, and graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1936. She graduated from Teacher's Training in Bemidji in 1938 and from Bemidji State Teachers College with a Bachelors Degree in 1954. Hazel taught at Schumacher, Splithand, Togo, and Wendigo Rural Schools, and also at Bigfork and Cohasset Schools. She then taught in Grand Rapids for 26 years, and retired in 1977 with 39 years of teaching. She was a member of G.R.E.A. and R.E.A.M. Hazel was united in marriage to Paul Rostvit on July 12, 1968. She was a member of Grace Bible Chapel where she taught Sunday School and was an AWANA leader. She had also taught Sunday School and Bible School at many churches throughout Itasca County. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; stepdaughter, Joan Hawkinson; and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by two stepsons, Greg Rostvit and Gale Rostvit; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9 in the Libbey Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the 10:30 Funeral Service on Wednesday, March 10 in Grace Bible Chapel in Grand Rapids.
