George G. Goodell, age 89, of Cohasset, MN passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Majestic Pines Assisted Living, Grand Rapids, MN.

George was born in 1934 in Grand Rapids, MN to Philmon and Ada Goodell.  He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1952.  George served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 until 1964 and then with Minnesota Air National Guard in Duluth, MN from 1964 until 1977 and retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel.  He was self employed as a logger, owned and operated the family farm, and later worked for Rajala Construction.  George was a member of American Legion Post 60 of Grand Rapids, MN and the 38er's Snowmobile Club.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, he could fix anything, and in George's own words "One helluva hunter and fisherman".

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie Goodell; former wife, Sharon Smith; daughter, Dawn Goodell; son Tim Goodell; brother, William Goodell; a sister, Nancy Gersich; and a half sister, Joelle Kampf.

George is survived by his son, Marc (Ro) Goodell of Maple Grove, MN; daughter, Kellison "Kelli" (Tom) Haugan; two stepsons, Brad (Suzy) Graves of Frazier Park, CA, and Brian (Nicole) Graves of Coon Rapids, MN; 8 grandchildren, Michael (Marta) Haugan, TJ Haugan, John (Amanda) Haugan, Katie (Ben) Gulstad, Lizzie Couteaux, Jenna Graves, Karley Graves, and Courtney Graves; and a great granddaughter, Sofia Haugan.

The Goodell family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Majestic Pines Assisted Living and Essentia Health-Itasca Hospice for the wonderful care given to George.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the V.F.W. Post 1720 in Grand Rapids, MN.
