Gene Arthur Shockency, age 88, of Cohasset, MN passed away Monday, August 7, 2023, at Deer River health Care Center, Deer River, MN.

Gene was born November 11, 1934 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Louis and Sara (Weber) Shockency.  Gene earned his bachelor's degree and entered military service in the United States Marines.  Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and began a long career in law enforcement with the Minnesota State Patrol.  After his retirement he enjoyed traveling, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his great granddaughter Chloe.

Gene is survived by his son Colin Shockency; grandson Matthew Shockency; great granddaughter Chloe Shockency; brother Stanley Shockency; Jim Crotteau, who Gene considered as a son; special friends Shirley Hanssen, and Linda Solem.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Nancy, LeRoy, Robert, and Lewis Jr.

At Gene's request, no formal services will be held.
