Rudnick, Ethel Lenore, age 98, of Grand Rapids, Mn, was born on March 27, l9l6 in Perth, ND, to Mary and Franklin Leach. In l936, after graduating from Perth High School and while working in Cando, ND, she met and married Walter Rudnick, of St. Paul, Mn. In l949 she moved to East Grand Forks, MN, and started a bookkeeping career at an automobile dealership. She married Thomas Brouse in l952, and in l955 moved to Fargo, ND, where she received more than a few performance awards from a Lincoln-Mercury Division of the Ford Motor Company. After a job as credit manager at Grand Forks, ND, Air Force Base, she reunited with Walter Rudnick and eventually finished her long career at the law office of Murnane, Murnane, Colin & White, in St Paul, Mn. Ethel was a prodigious writer and chronicled reports from her in-depth study of the bible, Christian Science, and other religious beliefs. She gratefully subscribed to the Christian Science Monitor and was a conscientious citizen who submitted editorial comments to newspapers when she read of, or saw, injustice. She displayed devotion to animals and gardening, and upon retiring, she participated in senior excursions and continuing education through both the University of Minnesota and a Wisconsin Elderhostel. She won several ribbons from the Minnesota State Fair for her needlework, and after moving to Savage, MN, she volunteered at a branch library plus participated in the Kitchen Band, where she could continue her enjoyment of playing the piano. Ethel was the beloved mother of four children and their spouses; Donald and Laurie Rudnick, Glyndon, MN; Basil and Elizabeth Rudnick, Isleton, CA; James and Judith Rudnick, Grand Rapids, MN; and Mary and Gary Brattland, Edina, MN. She will also be missed by 24 great grandchildren and the l3 grandchildren who fondly remember her time spent visiting or babysitting, when she showered them with love and used her astounding creativity to direct entertaining project. Ethel was preceded in death by Tom and Walter, plus seven sisters and one brother. She will continue to be a philosophical giant in our family.
