Erika Lea (Kortekaas) Thompson, 43, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at Essentia Health-St Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN. She was born August 6, 1973 in Grand Rapids, MN to Richard and Candace (Gusse) Kortekaas. Erika graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1991 and attended Itasca Community College. She enjoyed fishing, camping and the outdoors. Erika loved her family; had an infectious laugh and smile. She was preceded in death by her mother, Candace Kortekaas. Erika is survived by her daughter, Makenzie (Justin Leason) Thompson of Montrose, MN; sons, Jakob Thompson and Zachary Thompson both of Watkins, MN; father, Richard Kortekaas of Cohasset, MN; brothers, Richard Jr. (Jennifer) Kortekaas of Wadsworth, OH, Adam (Susan Sutherland) Kortekaas of Grand Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Bensyn Thompson, Malaya Leason and one grandson on the way. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday January 19, 2017 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 35568 Foxtail Ln, Cohasset, MN 55721. Visitation one hour prior to the Service.
