Elma A. Hill, 84, of Grand Rapids, Minn., died Monday, December 27, 2011, at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital. Visitation: 4:00 "€" 6:00 pm on Friday, December 30 in the Libbey Funeral Home, and Saturday, December 31 from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids. Elma was born in Wolf Lake, Minn. to John and Hilma Kumara. She grew up and attended school at Wolf Lake. Elma lived in Grand Rapids for the past 43 years. She was a cook at Itasca Memorial Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1989. Elma was a very avid Minnesota Twins fan. In recent years she volunteered at the Food Shelf and worked as an election judge. She was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Elma was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 2006; two sons, Gary Komulainen and Roger Suvanto; grandson, Cass Mohler; four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Becky) Komulainen, of LaPorte, Minn., and John Suvanto (Kathy), of Grand Rapids; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Laura Kumara, of Minneapolis.
