Obituary

Eleanor Adela Watson of Grand Rapids, Minnesota passed away on Thursday December 13, 2012 after a brief illness. Eleanor was born in 1933 in Bagley, MN to Pauline and Floyd Bardwell. She attended Minerva Grade School, Bagley High School and Oak Hills Bible College. She played the piano at Grace Chapel in Bagley where she first fell in love with the depth and beauty of traditional hymns and her husband, the young part-time preacher, Stuart Watson. Stuart and Eleanor were married at Grace Chapel in 1952. They moved to Stuart's hometown of Grand Rapids, MN. and raised three children. In addition to being a full time mother, Eleanor held several jobs including church pianist, survey work for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, mystery shopper, wedding photography and opening the family owned restaurant, the Sveden House, in Hibbing, MN. Later in life, she and her husband continued their service as caretakers at the Quiet Place, a retreat center in Longville, MN. and at St. Jude's Children's Orphanage in Las Vegas, NV. She was also frequently extending her time and attention to friends and families in need. Eleanor is survived by her husband, Stuart; three children Dennis Watson (Joanne), Terry Watson (Sheryl) and Kay Horsmann (Barry); eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her hospitality, fearless love of the color red and incredible gift of service to others. Memorials may be made to Itasca Hospice.
