Einar "Sonny" Tagtgren, age 81, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Serenity Living Solutions in Remer, MN.

Sonny was born on October 11, 1942 in Bigfork, MN to Einar and Marion Tagtgren. He lived in Aurora for many years while raising his family. He worked at LTV Steel as a shovel operator for many years. He later moved to Grand Rapids, MN and there he met and married Betty Jones.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Todd (Rebecca); daughter, Teresa; sisters: Becky (Ron); Sue; Lori (Ken); brother, Kirk (Lynn) and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim (Joyce); his first wife, Virginia; and an infant daughter.

Sonny's family would like to thank Serenity Living in Remer and Essentia Health Itasca Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Sonny.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Calvary Pines Baptist Church, Grand Rapids, MN with Pastor David Taplin, officiating. Visitation will begin at the church at 10:00 am. Burial with military honors will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery
