Dorothy D. Somers, 80, of Grand Rapids, Minn., died on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at her home. Memorial Service: 11:00 am Tuesday, August 2 in the Libbey Funeral Home. Dorothy was born in Grand Rapids on April 22, 1931 to John and Alvina Hamling. She worked in the chemical dependency field. She married Clifford Somers on April 22, 1976. Dorothy was a member of Women of the Moose and Alcoholics Anonymous. She loved bowling, reading, and fishing. Her passion was being active in Alcoholics Anonymous with 35 years of sobriety. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; parents; son, Steven Pearson; great-grandson, Logan Pearson; six brothers and three sisters. Surviving family includes her children, Peg (Rick) Millar, Chuck (Gale) Pearson, Patti (Tyrone) Garro, and Paula Hanson; two granddaughters that she raised, Tricia Millikan and Ashley Kurtock; nine other grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lola Pohl and two brothers, Neil Hamling and Jackie Hamling.
