Dorothy Mae Brace, 83, lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, Minn., died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital. Dorothy was born in Grand Rapids to Leo and Mildred Betz. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1946. Dorothy married James R. Brace in 1950. She was a member and former Deacon of Community Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Grand Rapids Moose Club, and the Telephone Pioneers. She will be remembered for her prolific knitting. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James in 1985; daughter, Debbie Brace; and three brothers, Floyd Betz, Ray Betz, and Bill Betz. Surviving family includes one son, Michael (Bobbi) Brace of Grand Rapids; two daughters, Linda (Raymond) Embertson of Grand Rapids and Jane (Scott) Cook of Cohasset, Minn. seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Vivian Beaudet of Longview, Wash.; one brother, Roger (Arline) Betz of Bovey, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 6 in the Libbey Funeral Home. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Monday, May 7 in the Community Presbyterian Church, Grand Rapids with Rev. Kimbrel Johnson officiating.
