Donald W. Ericson, 87, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Monday, October 27th, 2014 in St. Luke's Hospital. He was born April 9th, 1927 in Stromsburg, NE to Wesley and Mildred Ericson. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and married Jessie Schroeder on May 11, 1952. They moved to Ainsworth, NE where he worked for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). From there they moved to Madison, WI for twelve years until moving to Grand Rapids, MN in 1965 and worked for the USGS until his retirement in 1985. They enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. in their RV. Donald also was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed boating and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie; parents; sisters, Eleanor Peterson and Mary Curry. Donald is survived by his sons, John Ericson of Hudson, FL and Wes (Michelle) Ericson of Grand Rapids, MN; brother, Ken Ericson of Des Moines, IA; one grandson, John W. Ericson and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gathering of Friends will be 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8th, 2014 with a Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m. all at the Timberlake Lodge in The Cafe Room, 144 SE 17th St, Grand Rapids, MN 55744.
