Dick D. Smith, 90, of Cohasset, Minnesota died unexpectedly on Sunday January 13, 2013 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Dick was born August 29, 1922 to Herbert and Mabel Smith. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School and Itasca Junior College. Dick married Mary Markovich on November 30, 1943. He worked for Blandin Paper Company for many years. Dick was devoted to his family. He lovingly cared for his wife, Mary, until her death in 2007. He enjoyed watching wildlife, feeding the neighborhood deer, doing crossword puzzles, and growing tomatoes and squash. He loved when people would stop by to visit and play cards. Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; son, Richard; sister, Dorothy; and brother, Herbert, Jr. "Sonny." Surviving family includes one son, Tom (Rebecca) of Iron, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Sandy Swenson; six granddaughters, Shelly, Tracey, Kristina, Amanda, BoniJo, and Francesca; and three great-grandchildren, Emily, Nicholas, and Kipp.
