Betty Larae (Vlasak) Rudquist, 80, of Grand Rapids MN passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 in River Grand Senior Living. She was born April 23, 1927 in St. Paul, MN to Edward and Mabel (Peterson) Vlasak. She graduated from Forest Lake High School and then from Macalaster College in Laboratory Technology. Betty married Richard Rudquist on July 15, 1958. She worked at Itasca Memorial Hospital and retired in 1982. They wintered on Cayo Costa in Florida in a little cabin built by the family. In the summer months they lived in their Dixon Lake home. She and Richard loved to travel, including many trips to Europe. Betty made friends with ease and kept them close to her heart. She fought a long battle with Parkinson's with humor, vigor and determination. Betty lived 7 years at River Grand and she loved the people, the cards, and the outings. She was a wonderful person, she was loved and she will be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rudquist in 2010; and parents. Betty is survived by son, Allan (Krista Matison) Rudquist of Grand Rapids, MN; daughter, Anne (Joe) Manns of Maplewood, MN; sister, Shirley Noaeill of Albert Lea, MN; 4 grandchildren, Lilly (Alex) Brick, Eric Manns, Ingrid Matison and Sage Jenson; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
