Obituary

Betty Biviano Boedicker, 65, of Grand Rapids passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at her home after a more than two-year courageous battle with cancer. Betty was born in 1947 in Norwich, NY to Angelo and Gladys Biviano. She grew up in Clayton, NC, graduating salutatorian from Clayton High School in 1964. She attended the University of N.C. at Greensboro for one year during which her father died suddenly forcing her to find employment. She worked for six years for the credit bureau in Raleigh, NC where she met and married her husband, James in 1967. In 1971, the family moved to Grand Rapids where she became a full-time homemaker and stay-at-home mom and excelled at both. She was always supportive of her girls' sports and Camp Fire activities and her husband's community involvements. She loved cooking and especially baking pies. She enjoyed hosting dinner parties and gatherings in her home, playing bridge, home decorating, antique collecting, flower gardening, camping and traveling, especially to Florida in the winter, where she knew it would be warm! Preceded in death by her parents and brother David in 1971, she is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jim (Bo); her daughters JoAnn (Mike) Sonnier of Rochester, MN, Katherine (Jim) Scherping of Grand Rapids, and Amy (Andrew) Mullens of Yamanto, Queensland, Australia; a sister, Susan (John) Garrett of Oak Ridge NC; eight grandchildren, Jesse, Ashley, and Kaitlyn Sonnier, Stephanie, Brianna, and Amanda Scherping, and Sophie and Timothy Mullens; and a host of wonderful friends. As per Betty's wishes, memorials may be made to Itasca Hospice Foundation, PO Box 5093 Grand Rapids, MN 55744 or the Grand Rapids Area Male Chorus, PO Box 322, Grand Rapids, MN 55744.
