Bessie Ellen (Myers) Olds, 95, of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Grand Village. She was born May 18, 1921 in Nashwauk, MN to William and Dolly (Robinson) Myers. She married Roger Olds on April 29, 1939. Bessie was a caregiver her whole life and was a wonderful quiltmaker. "If there has ever been anyone that deserves the very best of what eternity has to offer, Bessie is the one. She gave so much to so many and asked nothing in return. She comforted and cared for so many in the final stages of their lives while all the while raising a wonderful family of her own under formidable conditions. She was quietly a pillar of the community and was loved by all that were fortunate enough to know her. She will be greatly missed." By Glenn "Sonny" Horner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Olds; parents; brothers, Tom, Norman, Walter, James, Mike, Charlie and Joe Myers; sisters, Catherine and Anna. Bessie is survived by her sons, Wally (Carolyn) Olds of Cohasset, MN, Roger (Norma) Olds of Corpus Christi, TX; daughter, Ella (Gary) Gelting of Cohasset, MN; brother, Chester Myers of CA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four gr-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
