Barbara Dianne (Kent) Venema, 78, passed away peacefully at Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids, MN, on September 20, 2026. Barbara was born on July 23, 1948, in Grand Rapids, MN, to Albert and June Kent. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Barbara was married to William Venema for 18 years, together they raised a family, built a life full of love, and hard work. Affectionately known as Dianne to her family and Dede to her friends, she leaves behind cherished memories for all who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her children: Lori (Ron) Olson of Willmar; her grandchildren: Marissa, Mitchel, Meghan, and Ryan; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchild; and her siblings: Sandy (Jim) Tulek of Grand Rapids, Kevin (Sharon) Kent of Warba, and Nancy (John) Jimenez of Grand Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband, son Mark Richardson and niece Shelly Brooke.

Barbara had a long and successful career at the Sawmill Inn, where she dedicated 41 years of service. She and her husband, William, owned and operated B&D Carpet for 17 years, contributing to the local community with hard work and care.

Per Barb’s request, there will be no formal service. Her family will honor her wishes and remember her privately, holding close the many memories and moments they shared with her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Barbara's memory to St. Croix Hospice. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of St. Croix Hospice, for their compassionate care and support during this time.
