Obituary

Austun Gary Tavis, 30, of Blaine, MN passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, February 27, 2017. Austun was born August 7, 1986 in Lawrenceville, GA, the son of Gary and Joy Tavis. He will always be remembered for his animated expressions, contagious smile, sense of humor, and his ability to retain random facts about music and musical artists. Growing up, he enjoyed baseball, fishing, football, golf, hockey, and hunting which continued into adulthood often sharing these moments with his dad, Gary. He grew up in Grand Rapids, MN graduating from Grand Rapids High School in 2005. Following high school, he attended Hamline University graduating in 2011 with a bachelor of business administration degree. Shortly after graduation, he started working at Channel Partners, LLC where he took pride in his career as a credit manager. He was united in marriage to his best friend, Alison Rupert, on February 14, 2015 in Minneapolis. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing games together and exploring the great outdoors from alpine skiing to kayaking. He was recently re-baptized at Eagle Brook Church in Blaine. He was preceded in death by his father and best friend, Gary, daughter, Laelynn, and nephews, Andrew and Timothy. Austun is survived by his loving wife, Alison; dogs, Dudley and Winston; mother, Joy; sisters, Amber (Randy) Kline, Aaryn (Neal) Forst; brother-in-law, Nick (Katie) Rupert; parents-in-law, Jim and Lauri Rupert; grandparents, Richard and Phyllis Tavis and John and Joleen Domes; nephews, Adrian, Aric, Mason, Nicholas, Benjamin, William, and niece, Abigail. Austun also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives as well as many friends. Memorial Service: Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cohasset with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the service with Reverends Mark Peske and Bill Zeige officiating.
