Obituary

Arthur William Trembath, 89, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Grand Itasca Hospital. Art was born July 18, 1923 in Deer River, Minnesota. He served in the Army in the European theater during World War II. Upon returning to the states, Art married Alice Grace Erven on June 15, 1946. Art worked for Cleveland Cliffs mining company until 1980. Art always took an active role in his church, his family, and his community. Family fishing and camping trips played a large part in Art's life. Art was a long time member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Kiwanis Club, Meals on Wheels, and various other volunteer organizations. During retirement, Art was an avid cribbage, 500, and pool player. He enjoyed the camaraderie at the Senior Center, Lawrence Lake, and Marble Town Hall. The McDonalds' coffee club was an enjoyable weekly event. Art was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, three sisters, six brothers-in-laws, four sisters-in-law, and two grandchildren. He is survived by three children, Bill (Ruth Ann) Trembath, Carol (Rick) Perrott, and Tom (Jane) Trembath; a brother, Bob (Betty) Trembath; sister-in-law, Helen Mjolsness, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in the Libbey Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 1 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, MN from 10 until the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life Service. Pastor Greg DeMuth will officiate. Burial: Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids. Arrangements are in the care of Libbey Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN. "Serving the Family for Generations" 218-326-4000.
