Arthur L. Allen, age 87, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital.

Arthur was born in 1935 to George and Lila Allen in Grand Rapids, MN. He grew up in the Grand Rapids area and graduated from high school in 1954. After high school, Art enlisted in the Army where he served from 1958 until his discharge in 1962. Art was united in marriage to Bonnie Urseth on July 15, 1961, together the lived in the Grand Rapids area. Art worked a variety of jobs throughout his life, including sales at JC Penny and Sears. He started Art"s Refrigerator and Appliance Services and continued until 1980. He retired from Sears in 1993.

Art enjoyed picking blueberries and cutting wood with his brother, George. He especially loved his little dog, Goldie, spending time at his cabin on Red Lake, visiting relatives, relaxing, and doing some fishing. Art cherished his friendship with his special neighbor, Judy. They watched over each other"s homes and helped each other out whenever needed. He will be greatly missed by all.

Art is preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, George Allen Jr., and Jim Allen Sr.; and sister, LuVerne Matzdorf. He is survived by his daughter, Julie Allen; foster daughter, Lisa Snell; sisters, Betty Allen and Dode (Carl) Hanson; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside gathering for family and friends with full military honors will be held at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN on Monday June 6, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
