Alma Elsie (Breid) Young, 98, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 in Evergreen Terrace, Grand Rapids, MN. She was born January 17, 1917 in Wadena, MN to August and Eleanora (Hedtke) Breid. She married Elmer Young on March 6, 1940. She worked for the Itasca Hospital in the laundry department. Alma was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Eagles Club and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, baking, playing cards and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alma will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Young; parents; four brothers, and three sisters. Alma is survived by her son, Bob (Sherry) Young of Park Rapids, MN; daughter, Geraldine (Conrad) Murphy of Bemidji, MN; brother, Alfred Breid of Illinois; sister, Ethel Berrett of California; three grandchildren, Brian (Kathleen) Murphy of Eagan, MN, Kathleen (Jason) Gangeness of Lakeville, MN, Cheryl (Carlos) Moreno of Bemidji, MN; five great-grandchildren, Matt, Chris and Megan Murphy, Grant Gangeness and Antonio Moreno; and her beloved dog, Teddy Bear.
