Adeline "Addy" LaMae (Veflin) Stoskopf, 94, of Grand Rapids, MN., passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Oak Hill Assisted Living. She was born August 3, 1924 in New Effington, SD and grew up on the family farm. She moved to Flint Michigan to work as one of the "Rosie the Riveters" women in the war effort. Addy met Bill Stoskopf and moved to Alaska arriving on a steamship from Seattle to Seward Alaska where they got married in 1952. They were charter members of the Lutheran Church of Hope where she also worked as the secretary while raising her children. She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin near Palmer, AK with family and friends. In 1964 Addy and her family endured the massive Alaskan earthquake and years later penned a chapter in a book recounting that experience. They moved to Minnesota following Bill's retirement in 1982 and lived on Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids, MN. The next 5 years were enjoyed together on the lake and during the winter months at their condo in Hawaii. After Bill passed away in 1987, she continued to travel, including 9 foreign countries in Europe. Addy taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to make lefsa. She was an active person and on her 80th birthday, rode on a Harley Davidson with her son and rode in the Grand Rapids parade when 90 years old for the "Rosie the Riviters". She was preceded in death by her husband, William Stoskopf; and her parents. Addy is survived by her children, Craig Stoskopf of Anchorage, AK, Janelle (Henry) Dagle of Grand Rapids, MN; sisters, Dorothy Miller of Wahpeton, ND, Inez Ellingson of New Effington, SD; grandchildren, Dylan Stoskopf, Tawny Dagle, Ben Dagle; great-grandchildren, Ayla Dagle, Taya Danielson, Leo Mitchell; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
